WJSI charges no fees of any kind, publishes everything open access under CC BY 4.0, and returns a first decision within ten weeks of submission. We do not require a template.
Before you write to us: if you are unsure whether your work fits our scope, send the title and abstract to editor@tamalanreasrc.org. We would rather answer a question early than reject a manuscript over something avoidable.

Word limits exclude references and are guidance rather than hard rules. If your work genuinely needs more room, say so in your cover letter.
No template, and no particular format at first submission. Send your manuscript in whatever reasonable layout you already have. Formatting is settled at production, after acceptance.

Review Articles, Perspectives and Data Resources may depart from this where their content requires, but should keep the abstract, keywords, highlights, declarations and references.
We welcome submissions from authors writing in English as an additional language, and we do not reject work for language alone. If the science is sound but the writing needs work, we will tell you what to fix and help at production.
1. Title page — every author's full name, affiliation, country, ORCID iD and email; corresponding author marked; any acknowledgement naming individuals.
2. Anonymous manuscript — no names, affiliations or institutional identifiers anywhere. Write self-citations in the third person. Phrase ethics approvals as "approved by the institutional ethics committee (details withheld for review)".
The step most people miss: Word stores your name in the file properties. In Word, go to File → Info → Check for Issues → Inspect Document, and remove document properties and personal information. Anonymising the text is undone if you skip this.
All of these must appear. Write "Not applicable" where one genuinely does not apply rather than omitting the heading.
Because of where much of our published work is grounded, two expectations are worth stating plainly.
Fieldwork and specimens. Document all collecting and access permits, and comply with national law and the Convention on Biological Diversity, including the Nagoya Protocol where relevant.
Indigenous and local knowledge. Document free, prior and informed consent, describe how communities were engaged, and address benefit-sharing. Where community collaborators have made a substantial intellectual contribution, we expect them to be authors, not only acknowledged.
Withholding precise localities for threatened species, or data governed by indigenous data sovereignty, is a legitimate reason not to share data. State it explicitly rather than leaving the section blank.

Attach the anonymous manuscript, the title page, figures as separate files, and a cover letter stating why the work suits WJSI, that it is original and not under consideration elsewhere, and that all authors approve submission. You may suggest up to three reviewers and request the exclusion of up to two, with reasons; we are not obliged to follow either.
