The Wallacea Journal of Science and Innovation is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal publishing original research on the environment, health, education and languages of Wallacea.
Wallacea lies between the Sunda and Sahul shelves, bounded by the Wallace Line to the west and the Lydekker Line to the east. The same islands hold a second transition: this is where the Austronesian and Papuan language families meet, placing one of the world's great concentrations of biological endemism alongside one of its great concentrations of language.
That overlap is the journal's subject. We publish across the natural sciences, the social sciences and the humanities, and welcome comparable work from other biocultural regions.
Volume 1, Issue 1 will be published in June 2027. The call for papers is open, with a submission deadline of 31 January 2027.
