The Wallacea Journal of Science and Innovation is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal publishing original research on the environment, health, education and languages of Wallacea.
Wallacea is the group of islands lying between the Sunda and Sahul shelves, bounded by the Wallace Line to the west and the Lydekker Line to the east. Alfred Russel Wallace first described the transition in the nineteenth century, and it remains one of biogeography's defining problems. The region's ecosystems are among the most species-rich and highly endemic in the world.
The same islands hold a second transition. This is where the Austronesian and Papuan language families meet, giving Wallacea a linguistic diversity far out of proportion to its size. One of the world's great concentrations of biological endemism sits alongside one of its great concentrations of language.
That overlap is the journal's subject. WJSI publishes research on the environment, health, education and languages of the region, and on how they bear on one another — across the natural sciences, the social sciences and the humanities. We also welcome comparable work from other biocultural regions, and research of general international significance.

Tamalanrea Research Press is the publishing imprint of Tamalanrea Science and Research Centre, a research association (Perkumpulan) constituted under Indonesian law and registered with the Ministry of Law.
The Centre funds the journal in full. WJSI charges authors nothing, carries no advertising, and accepts no sponsorship that could compromise editorial independence.
WJSI is new. We hold no impact factor and claim no indexing we have not earned. Our path is deliberate and public: publish the first issue, register the ISSN, apply to DOAJ, seek national accreditation, and approach Scopus only once we have the publishing history it requires.
We would rather build slowly to a standard than launch quickly without one.
